I know Q2 ended a little while ago- I mended one pair, and made five! I thought I only made one until I looked through my Instagram and realised that I actually did far more sock knitting than I thought. I think Q3 will be quite productive as I have a few WIPs that are close to being finished and lots of travel knitting time! The mending pile is still overflowing though…
Nearly the end of June, so I thought I’d check what socks I’ve knitted this quarter. Mainly I’ve been knitting socks for children which will be sent to Ukraine later in the year. The group I knit for gets jumpers and hats, but frequently socks are missing from the sets, so I’ve made five pairs recently, two pairs for 4-6 y.o., two pairs for 18 months- 2 y.o., and one pair 2-4.
I’m knitting a pair of socks for myself too, but only have one finished at present. I’m planning a lacy pair next.
I've just cast off the 1st sock of a impromptu dk pair that I'm hoping to gift a lovely friend (using stash, some lovely blue yarn with waves to match her blue sofa and keep her toes cosy in the absence of her furry friend 🐈 that she just said goodbye to). I think dk sock knitting for gift knits is the way forward for me 🌟
I just realised that the socks I have been knitting on during these past few weeks do not match, at all 😅 the yarn is varigated and comes in 50 gram skeins and despite being from the same dye lot they are looking so different from eachother! I will try to look past it and not be too annoyed, haha.
I found a nice textured pattern for larger sizes! Petty Harbour by Rayna Curtis. Unfortunaly it did not work out with the yarn I'm currently using, but I have saved the pattern for future use.
Eek! It's April 8 and I have NO socks on the needles. I planned a rather fancy lace-and-twisted-stitch pair for this month but as I'm getting on a plane in two weeks these are unlikely to get done in April. Might be time for some leftover sock tube shorties!
Yay for Q2! Quarter 1 was really fun, I made two adult pairs and one pair for my four year old (they have not been photographed yet as he refuses to have them washed 🫠). I plan to cast on another pair for my partner tonight to have as "background knitting" as my upcoming larger project is a pretty complicated cabled jumper 🥰
What a lovely productive quarter -- and the sign of a well loved knit if they aren’t given up for a wash! Hoorah ! Do you have a favorite pattern for children’s socks ?
Not yet! I have a basic pattern from a Swedish knitting book that I like, but it has short row heels which my kid says are not "proper heels" 😅 so the search continues! I might try the bananen socken next, they look like fun!
And I'll go first! I've got two single socks underway (both around the heel turn) for two separate pairs. I'd really like to finish the pairs, mend a few pairs, and add some length to a pair of socks I finished in haste last year and are actually a bit short. I think that will be more than enough to keep me busy the next few months!

That sounds like an excellent plan b!
