Hello, hello! Better late than never, here’s the the chat thread for the last (!) quarter of Make Socks Mend Socks! I’d love to hear what sock knitting plans you have to see out the year, whether that’s finally tacking the mending pile (raises hand!), finishing off sock WIPs, sock gift knitting, festive socks … all sock goals welcome!
A few things for our last quarter…
- you are our Q3 winner! Drop me a line at fiberandsusteance@gmail.com (or message me here on Substack!) so I can get you your goodies!
On the subject of prizes … I’ll do a final sock-related prize for this quarter, picked from everyone who participates. The absolute best way to “enter”remains to share your progress/process here! This can range from plans for the rest of the year, progress updates, questions … anything related to your sock making and mending quest! Do I need to have taken part in previous quarters, you may be asking? Nope! You’re welcome to join in any time!
If you share on Instagram, do use the hashtag #makesocksmendsocks2024 and, if you can, tag me ( fiberandsustenace ). Meta has made it increasingly difficult to delight in a hashtag, even if you follow it, and I want to cheer you on!
Last: here’s the landing page for Make Socks Mend Socks, which included links to the quarterly chats as well as to some guides for getting started with socks and mending!
Happy making and mending!
Inspired by your lovely newsletter, I cast on a sock in September! I haven't knit socks (or really much else) since my first kid was born 7 years ago... so it feels great to be at it again. I'm just doing a pattern that came with some yarn my mother-in-law gave me :-)
This is the year for Solstice Socks. So, as soon as I've finished the gift yarn pair I have on the needles, I'm casting on Knit Spin Farm's Backyard Boughs - reds and greens of balsam, honeysuckle, cedar cone, bay leaf, and crab apple with snowflake speckles. And it's DK, just the thing for cozy winter house socks!
